We had a great time at Forecastle - so many great bands! Thanks to everyone who braved the heat to watch our set. Also, we met some really nice people from No Kill Louisville. Check them out! Finally, thanks to everyone at the Bluegrass Catastrophe Stage (North Stage) for all of the hard work that was involved in making everything run smoothly.

Taking a small break from doing vocal takes and mixing the upcoming album today.  Decided to do an acoustic cover version of the song “Cornerstone” from the last Arctic Monkeys album.  Have yall heard it?  It’s kinda old, coming out last November.  Don’t really care for their style/songs but really LOVE this one.  If they did more like this I would send money so hard.  For maximum funness, thought I would try and do it in the singer’s vocal style.  He pronounces some things somewhat eccentrically as he was imitating Jake Thackray, an odd English folk singer from 60’s-70s (?) or so.  Check him out too.  Anyway, did two vocal takes and chose the most decent - couple wee flat notes - sorry bros.  U must listen to the original track as it’s very nice.   Also check out the video for this song as it’s also very nice and simplistic.

Tracking for the new album is under way! Bass and drums are pretty much complete - should be finishing up with those in the upcoming weeks. Until then, here is a cool video Nickolas over at Three Minute Record made for one of our new songs, Call off the Pain. The intro is a piano piece by Jeremy Perry - Four Premonitions (Mov. #1). The songs starts around 1:27. If you like the song, you can buy it now on the latest edition of Louisville is for Lovers

Loren and Jeremy got together to practice singing two-part harmony. We’re going to work a lot on it. Tonight we decided to practice pop standards. The aim is to feel what it’s like to sing a really great song that has unbelievable harmony parts so that when we do our own stuff we can see if we feel the same great feeling or not. If we don’t then maybe the parts aren’t so good and we should work on the composition of them more. Anyway, tonight we really ended up focusing on a beautiful track by The Everly Brothers called All I Have To Do Is Dream. We recorded a performance for you but go easy on us as it’s out first night working on the stuff.

We visited the ocean. Late one night, we found a starfish on the beach. We took photographs of the starfish. Then we let that starfish go. And it looked like he/she was doing alllll right. Then, once back at home, we wrote and recorded this song in honor of the starfish which we will never forget. Thanks starfish!!!
